Yvette Go is Partner at shærpa, having joined this Dutch-based organization specialized in social venturing in 2013. Her primary role is to establish and co-manage the shærpa Fund, which will invest in social enterprises throughout Europe, with emphasis on the Benelux. Yvette is an experienced investment professional with 16 years track record of successfully building and developing businesses, both as an investor and Board member, as well as through hands-on operations & management inside companies.
Coming from a for-profit background, she has sought to combine her professional activities with a clear societal mission. She took a first major step in this direction by leaving a successful corporate career (Shell, DSM) to move into sustainable energy, joining the cleantech venture capital firm Chrysalix SET in 2008. Whereas working with early-stage enterprises and contributing to sustainable energy solutions were rewarding, she increasingly questioned the validity and true sustainability of 10x financial results as the sole driver of management decisions. She found that there is an alternative: building sound businesses with the social aim embedded in the business proposition. At shærpa, the aim is to advance social innovation by investing in early-stage social enterprises, helping them to deliver significant positive social impact, while financially returning capital with a plus. Through a special and unique “Sharing the Passion” track, investors in the Fund are given the opportunity to learn about social impact, interact with and share the joy of investing in social enterprises, without having to carry the burden of managing them.
Yvette is passionate about applying the effectiveness of for-profit discipline to advance societal development. She holds a Master's degree in Business Administration from IESE Business School (Global Executive MBA 2008, Spain) and a Master of Science in Chemical Engineering from Delft University of Technology (Netherlands)
